Who writes this

Diversify Guy is a pen name. Here is what that means and how we work.

Diversify Guy is a pen name.

There is no single man behind this masthead. Diversify Guy is the byline of our editorial desk, and we use a pen name for the same reason a good many financial publishers do: so the work gets judged on its sourcing rather than on a personality.

We think that is the honest way round. The precious metals and crypto retirement business is full of people selling you a track record. We would rather show you a fee schedule.

What that means in practice

  • We do not claim a personal investment track record. Not here, and not anywhere else. If you see one on a site like this, ask who verified it.
  • We are not advisers. We are an independent publisher. Nothing on this site is personalised investment advice, and we will never tell you what to do with your own retirement account.
  • Every factual claim about a company comes from a source you can check. The company’s own fee schedule, its BBB or Trustpilot profile, an IRS or SEC document, or a published filing. If we cannot source it, we do not print it.
  • We earn affiliate commissions from some of the companies we cover. That is how the site stays free to read. It is disclosed on every page where those links appear, and it does not change a published fee, a founding date or a rating.
  • We correct things in place. When we get something wrong we fix the page and say what changed, rather than quietly deleting it.

How we review a dealer

The same four checks, every time, because they are the ones that cost people money:

  1. The whole published fee schedule, not the headline rate on the landing page.
  2. Who physically holds the metal, in which depository, and whether your bars are segregated or pooled.
  3. What it costs to sell back, and how long you wait for the money.
  4. What the company’s own disclosures admit, including paid endorsements and advertising relationships.

Most of that is dull. That is rather the point. The interesting part is what a company does when you ask a boring question twice.
